Anthony Compagnone is a licensed Bilingual Speech & Language Pathologist and Therapist who has been working with kids and adults for over 20 years. A seasoned pro with experience in private practice and in school districts from New York City to San Francisco, he provides individual and/or group therapy within an educational or corporate setting.
Anthony provides collaborative and traditional speech and language services incorporating the Common Core Learning Standards, acting as both coach and speech therapist. Specifically for children with special learning needs, he handles both monolingual & bilingual speech and language screenings, where he works closely with parents and teachers to integrate programs beyond an educational setting for more sustainable results.
For children, he has successfully created and implemented programs and processes to incorporate play in a naturalistic setting as a means to facilitate speech and language acquisition. His experience lies across all age groups, facilitating therapy and programs to help with a myriad of speech and language delays and disorders, Autism being a common one.
With a couple of decades of experience in schools, institutes and organizations in New York, he now resides in San Francisco where he currently works with individual clients and private and public school districts across all age groups.
Given his bilingual accreditation, he focuses on where the greatest needs are, performing evaluations, adult and child therapy and early intervention services.
While his experience is extensive, one of his greatest gifts is his intuitive nature centered around identifying people’s speech and language issues. He takes a holistic approach to everything he does, whether it be his speech therapy, facilitating IEP meetings, doing speech evaluations or creating ongoing programs to improve a client’s specific needs.
He also provided bilingual and bicultural linguistic and semantic data for children’s dual language entertainment programs for Bilingual Children’s Enterprises in New York, where he served as an adviser for the release of Tipi Tom Tales, a documentary and series focused on children and language.
Anthony holds a M.S. Education in Speech & Language Pathology from Buffalo State College, a New York State and California License in Speech Language Pathology and a B.A. in French and Italian Literature, Philosophy & Language.
He is also credited CCC-SLP through the American Speech & Hearing Association, a Tenured SLP through the New York City Department of Education, a New York State Early Intervention Bilingual Speech & Language Pathologist, a Permanent New York State Teacher of Speech Hearing Handicapped, and holds a Permanent Bilingual Spanish Speech & Language Pathologist Extension.
Anthony speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and Dutch, his strongest languages being English, Spanish and Italian, although he has enough knowledge and understanding of French to work with individuals who have special needs and may have been raised bilingual.
While he has also studied Turkish, German, and Classical Latin Grammar and Literature, speech and language are not his only gifts and talents to the world. He is a contributing writer to We Blog the World, an online magazine and site that focuses on Transformative Travel, which is at the juncture of where Luxury Travel and Adventure meet. His content interest areas include food/wine, culture, products, adventure travel and martial arts.
Anthony has a number of Martial Arts accreditation as well and specializes in Kung Fu and Chinese Kempo, where he focuses on teaching children self-defense techniques. He is a Sifi in Dan Black Belt Chinese Kempo, and Black Sash in Shippalgi Korean Kung Fu, a Master of Iron Palm Training, as well as a Martial Arts Specialist in Combat Sports, Physical Fitness and “Prana Yama” The Art of Breath Control”.
